Northstar Fastpitch was established in 2013 by the Anoka Ramsey Fastpitch Association and fields a 14U and 16U team that will play in the UMFL or Suburban League.  The program was designed to achieve two primary goals. First, provide a highly competitive program for girls in Anoka Ramsey and surrounding communities who desire to compete at the highest level possible.  Second, we are committed to provide multisport athletes with an opporunity to play fastpitch, with year round training opportunities, while recognizing many players desire the opportuity, and have the talent, to compete in multiple sports.

Team Practices: In addition to in-season practice, teams practice during the off-season at the Maple Grove Sports Dome one evening per week starting in January.  Players are expected to participate barring a conflict with their in-season sport.  The fee associated with practicing at the dome is included in the participation fee.

Hitting: Hitting sessions will be offered throughout the off-season.  Players are strongly encouraged to attend hitting sessions barring conflict with their in-season sport.  Costs associated with hitting are not included in the participation fee.

Pitching/Catching: Group pitching and catching clinics are offered through the Anoka Ramsey Fastpitch Assocation; Northstar players may participate in these clinics.  However, based on the level of play, Northstar pitchers and catchers are encouraged to particpate in private or semi-private instruction.  If you do not already have a private coach your Northstar coach can make recommendations.  The fees associated with pitching and catching instruction are not included in the participation fee.

Playing Time and Positions: Playing time is earned and may not be equal.  Playing time and positions are at the sole discretion of the coaching staff.

Play and Tournaments: League games and tournaments will start following the conclusion of the highschool fastpitch season. Players should expect to play in: 1) weekly league games; 2) four tournaments, two of which will likely be played out of town (this could also mean out of state); 3) State Qualifier; 4) State Tournament; and 5) Nationals in the event the team earns a berth.  League fees and tournaments, including Qualifier, State and Nationals are included in the participation fee.

Assessments: Teams will be selected after assessments based on the decision of Northstar coaches and the player selection committee.  Players offered a spot on the Northstar roster will have 48 hours to accept the offer and register on-line through NGIN on the Anoka Ramsey Athletic Association Website.  An offer to play is null and void after the expiration of 48 hours.

Participation Fee: The participation fee is $700.00 and will include costs associated with coaching, a uniform, winter dome ball practice, league and tournaments fees.

Payment Schedule: A Non-Refundable fee of $250 will be due within 48 hours of being offered a spot on a Northstar roster. The second installment of $225  is due on November 1 and the final installment of $225 is due on March 1.

Roster Size: No more than 12 players.

Commitment and Expectations:  By accepting a spot on a Northstar roster you will be expected to make practices, games and tournaments your top priority during the fastpitch season.  You are also expected to attend all off-season practices if they do not conflict with your in-season sport.  In the event you are unable to attend any scheduled event, you are expected to notify your coach.  Northstar recognizes that school and religious events may conflict with some Northstar activities and will not penalize the athlete as long as the player’s coach is notified.
