2008 Summer Tennis Program

SUMMER PROGRAM MISSION

To offer a top quality tennis program for ages 5 - 18.  The program will help to strengthen our middle school and high school programs and help Anoka Boy’s and Girl’s teams to be more competitive in our conference, regions and state.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The program includes instruction on skills and strategy, drills, set play, strength, conditioning and team matches.  The program features flexible daytime and evening times, In-house Junior Team Tennis (JTT) matches and a Traveling Jr. Team Tennis option for 12U, 14U and 18U age groups.  The 6U, 8U and 10U age groups will use the QuickStart format with modified equipment and courts sizes.   All program participants may play in a season ending team tournament on July 31.

Drills:  The strokes and strategies of tennis will be covered throughout the program.  Each session will include Serve and Return practice and will have a focus “Shot of the Day”.

Set Play: All in the program may play supervised sets from Noon-1pm Tuesday through Thursday at no additional fee.  The player that records the most sets at the end of the program will win a prize.

Traveling Jr. Team Tennis:  USTA Jr. Team Tennis is the largest youth tennis league in the country, helping girls and boys of all ages get on the court and have a good time.  Teams are coed and made up of at least six players, three boys and three girls, based on similar ages and skill levels and matches are played weekly.  Complete information on Traveling Jr. Team Tennis on page 3.
