Welcome to Anoka Ramsey Tornado Tennis
Director: Patty Egart
The goal of ARAA Tennis is to promote the game of tennis with the hope that it will become a sport that our youth will enjoy as children, in high school, in college and for a lifetime. The program began in 1999 and offers opportunities for youth, ages 3 to 18. The programs are designed around the USTA programs QuickStart Tennis and USTA Junior Team Tennis. ARAA offers instructional in-house programs for ages 5-14 in the spring and fall and instructional in-house and traveling programs for ages 3-18 in the summer.

This player is new to the game of tennis or has been playing for less than two years. They are just learning to play and judge where the ball is going. They enjoy tennis as a recreational sport and have very little or no match play experience. Tournament players or players with high school varsity experience should not be playing at the novice level. This level has NO ADVANCEMENT OPPORTUNITIES to a National Championship, but will possibly have a type of season-ending event.
|
Generally, this player is fairly consistent when hitting medium paced shots, but is not comfortable with all strokes and lacks execution when trying for directional control, depth, or power. They typically have some match play experience.
|
(3.5 and above) – Generally, players at this level are varsity level players on a high school team, or in the case of younger players, striving to play at this level. They have achieved improved stroke dependability with directional control on moderate shots, but need to develop depth and variety. They exhibit more aggressive net play, have improved court coverage, and are developing teamwork in doubles.

Parents - We NEED Your Help
Members of the Anoka High School Boy’s and Girl’s teams will be on court coaching but we also need your help! We need you to help feed balls, to keep the ball hoppers filled, keep score if needed and participate in some games and drills. Wear your tennis shoes and bring a racquet if you have one. Please do not bring small children on court with you. We have had some close calls with little ones almost getting hit by a ball.
Weather
Please dress your child appropriately if it is chilly. In case of rain, lightning or if the weather is below 45 degrees, tennis will be canceled. Use your best judgment. Please pick-up your child or make arrangements to have your child picked up if it starts raining or lightning during a session.
ARAA Refund Policy
All requests for refunds must be made in writing and directed to that particular sport’s Commissioner. All refunds will be assessed a $15.00 processing fee. A full refund will be given, minus the processing fee, until April 1st. From April 2nd thru April 15th, refunds will be given minus any and all expenses incurred to that point including, but not limited to, uniform fee, team registration fees and player registration fees. No refunds will be given after April 15th with the exception of injuries that require the child to withdraw from the sport for the remainder of the season and which occur within the first four (4) weeks of the season. Refunds for injuries occurring after this date will not be allowed. In order to be entitled to a refund for injuries, the injuries must be reported to the Sports Commissioner in writing, indicating the extent of your child’s injury, and that your child will not be able to participate in that sport for the remainder of the season. Contacting your child’s coach will not be accepted as suitable notification.
