ARAA Volleyball offers a co-ed fall house league placing emphasis on basic rules of the game, skill development, fun and equal play. House leagues are a great introduction to volleyball- ideal for those who are trying volleyball for the first time and for returning players who enjoy what house volleyball has to offer.
Registration opens June 1st and closes August 1st.
$125 plus sports engine processing fee, with a two hour DIBS requirement per athlete with a maximum of 4 hours per family. (4 Hour maximum does not apply to GIA)
Note: With the addition of DIBS there is a $500 bond, this will only be charged if DIBS hours are not completed. (We will be offering a $100 buyout of these hours.) Ensure you select the "Volleyball Payment Plan" at check out if you're planning to volunteer!
1. Why is there an increase in registration fees this year?
- We have increased the registration fee from $100 to $125 this year for a couple of reasons. Firstly, we aim to make participation more accessible by offering free or discounted registration for coaches and assistant coaches, which we hope will attract more interest and involvement in our program. Secondly, the increase helps us cover rising operating costs, ensuring that we can continue to provide a high-quality experience for all participants.
2. How will the increase in registration fees benefit participants?
- By offering free or discounted registration for coaches and assistant coaches, we are investing in our coaching staff, which ultimately enhances the quality of the program for all participants.
3. Why are DIBS volunteer hours required this year?
- Requiring DIBS volunteer hours aligns us with other sports programs in ARAA and ensures that we have the necessary support to run a successful season. These volunteer hours are crucial for various tasks such as hall monitoring at rented facilities, assisting with Youth Night activities, and fulfilling other essential roles like line judging and refereeing.
4. How many volunteer hours are required per athlete, and what is the maximum per family?
- Each athlete is required to complete 2 volunteer hours, with a maximum of 4 hours per family. We believe this allocation strikes a balance between individual responsibility and family participation while ensuring that we have sufficient volunteer support across the program.
5. Are DIBS hours in addition to other volunteer commitments, such as those agreed upon through Grant in Aid?
- Yes, DIBS volunteer hours are in addition to any commitments made through Grant in Aid or other volunteer programs. We encourage all participants and their families to fulfill their DIBS hours to contribute to the success of the program and support our community.
6. What kinds of things would I be doing with DIBS hours?
- We have several options! Most of which can be done while your athlete is playing - Hall monitor (making sure people aren't lost, we're respecting LOL's property etc), Line Judge (Assisting the ref in calling fair shots), Set up and Take down (Setting up chairs before games, and putting them back after), supporting Youth Night, Shagging balls during practice etc!
7. Are there any other options to be more involved?
-Yes! We have an open position on the board for House Director - This would put you in the position to be the change and face of our recreational league, AND your athletes would receive discounted registration for BOTH House and JO Volleyball!
You can also opt to coach your athlete's team, where you'd receive free registration for one athlete and no dibs hour requirements!
8. How does the $500 bond work?
- The $500 bond is in place in the event someone agrees to volunteer, but does not complete their hours. ONLY then would the $500 bond charge the account.
DIBS requirement for the 2024 House season are 2 hours per athlete.
Below is a list of some basic guidelines and expectations for DIBS/volunteering for the 2024 house season:
1. Please arrive 10 minutes before the start time of the game/practice you are volunteering for. This will ensure that all questions you may have are answered prior to start time.
2. Please remember that this is a recreational volleyball league. There are children who have never played before, so please be patient and kind. We want this to be a positive experience for all of our families.
3. Players in grades 3/4 are allowed to serve from the 10 foot line, as well as 5/6 as needed. If players are able to serve consistently from the back line, they are expected to do so.
4. Please do not bring siblings to DIBS hours. We would like to limit distractions as much as possible. The positions you are volunteering for are vital to the success of our players.
5. You are free to sign up for any of the DIBS slots. However, if you have never been a referee or line judge before, please watch the videos below prior to your time slot.
6. There will be more DIBS opportunities in October if you do not get to sign up for September. October slots will be added to sign up genius by September 15th.
7. Please be mindful that there are many families who will be signing up for DIBS. These will be filled on a first come first serve basis. Once September slots are filled, there will not be any additional DIBS opportunities before October. In the event this changes, we will communicate it out at that time.
8. The last chance to complete DIBS hours will be 10/31, which is the conclusion of the 2024 in house season.
9. We expect all players and families to abide by the Lord of Life use rules.
10. If you have questions prior to completing your DIBS hours, or you are unable to make it due to unforeseen circumstances, please reach out to araavolleyballev@gmail.com as there may not always be a board member on site.
We are working on final details of check-in for DIBS hours with Lord of Life staff. There will be more to come on this, so please keep an eye out for an email update. If check-in is not completed, you may not receive credit for hours completed.

Our volunteer coaches are vital to the success of our house volleyball program. Volleyball experience or knowledge is not necessary as this is an introductory league. ARAA Volleyball's goal is to assign 2 coaches to each team who would share responsibilities. Skills and rules coaching clinics hosted by Anoka High School Volleyball and ARAA Volleyball are provided, age appropriate practice plans/drills are distributed and each coach will have access to online coaching videos.
Volunteer today and support your local community through this fun and rewarding coaching opportunity! Sign up to coach during player registration or email araahousevolleyball@gmail.com if you are interested.
All coaches involved in ARAA are required to have yearly background checks completed.
Please note that schedule changes may occur and will be communicated as they happen.
Season schedules are available from team coaches.
Times for individual teams and additional information will be communicated.
